Harbor Academy serves students who need a highly structured, individualized context in which to learn. Our strong academic curriculum includes multisensory teaching methods delivered in small class settings. Students at HLA are able to develop learning styles consistent with the strengths of their own minds through consistent processes and careful observation. We achieve this goal by focusing on each student's gifts and abilities.


Harbor Leadership Academy specializes in instruction for students with mild to moderate Learning Differences, Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD & ADHD), Processing Disorders, Short and Long Term Memory Challenges, Retrieval Issues, Autistic Spectrum and Dysgraphia.


Prior to each school year, each students' course schedule is individually prepared based on the students' current levels in each area and the students' goals.


Harbor Leadership Academy offers a comprehensive academic program, from developing essential fundamental and reasoning skills in our elementary students, to providing the highest levels of instruction to our high school students that gives them a competitive advantage in the college application process.
Harbor provides small classes, individualized instruction, and personalized goal training in a loving, safe and structured environment. As a result, our students have an opportunity to attain greater levels of understanding, which generally enables them to achieve outstanding scores on standardized examinations relative to state and national averages

Our Program

Harbor Leadership Academy is an independent, specialized school located in the Northwest Suburbs of Austin Texas. Our program is ideal for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, dyslexia, and or attention deficit disorder, with or without hyperactivity (ADD or ADHD). We design personalized education for every student for grades 5th through 12th grade. We have a very low teacher-to-pupil ratio and ​use direct and explicit instruction ​with multisensory learning techniques​. This creates an environment that provides a higher rate of individual attention​ than​ ​what is​ typically found in more traditional settings.


This is NOT a slowed down version of traditional education. Harbor does not eliminate ​foundational concepts as we modify instruction for helping those with disabilities understand and truly learn. There are no reduced expectations of student learning or performance.​ Harbor uses the philosophy of "challenging without frustrating". If academic work is too easy or too hard, students become frustrated and may shut down or become difficult at school, home or all environments.
